Cattle Wreck Causes Traffic Backup on I-44 in Joplin

Multiple heads of cattle are roaming around I-44, along E. 32nd St. in Joplin, Missouri following a multi-tractor trailer wreck that occurred just after 1 PM on Monday. The incident involved a cattle carrier, which resulted in several cows getting loose and wandering along both westbound and eastbound lanes of the highway.
As a result of the accident, some cows were injured. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area while crews work to address the situation.
Video footage captured at around 3:30 PM shows traffic still backed up due to the incident. One eastbound lane of I-44 has been closed since the wreck and is expected to remain so for several more hours according to statements from the Joplin Police Department.
