Cedar Rapids Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Accident
On May 14th, 2023 at approximately 3:00 am, Cedar Rapids Police responded to a traffic accident on the 2100 block of Williams Boulevard Southwest. According to reports from investigators, a car traveling eastbound on Williams Boulevard lost control and collided with an SUV heading in the opposite direction.
Tragically, two individuals were killed as a result of the accident. The victims have been identified by police as Aja Dampier (23) and John De Lapaz (29), both residents of Cedar Rapids. Three other people involved in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The incident is still under investigation by authorities who are urging anyone with information or video footage related to the crash to come forward. At this time, it is unclear what caused the car to spin out of control.
This tragic event serves as a reminder for all drivers to exercise caution while behind the wheel and follow traffic laws at all times. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this devastating loss.
