Child taken to Valley Children's Hospital with major injuries
A 12-year-old child is in the hospital after being hit by a truck in Kings County on Friday night. The incident occurred around 7 pm near Gale and 28th avenues, just north of the Avenal Cutoff Road.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the boy was riding an off-road vehicle when he crossed Gale Avenue in front of a Chevy Truck. Despite hitting the brakes, the driver was unable to stop in time due to an obstruction that prevented both parties from seeing each other.
The driver stayed at the scene while emergency services transported the child to Valley Children's Hospital with major injuries. The current condition of the victim remains unknown.
Authorities have confirmed that drugs or alcohol were not factors in this accident.
