Child in serious condition, flown to hospital

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - A 5-year-old child is in serious condition after being hit by a tractor-trailer on I-44 in Waynesville, Missouri. The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 6 p.m. in an eastbound lane at the 157-mile marker.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the child walked onto the highway and was hit by the tractor-trailer. The child was flown to a hospital in Columbia for treatment.

"The child's family lives near the interstate," said the highway patrol.

The accident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
