City Bus and School Bus Collide in Serious Crash in Racine, Wisconsin

A doorbell camera captured a dramatic collision between a city bus and a school bus in Racine, Wisconsin this week. The crash resulted in injuries to at least two individuals.

The incident took place on Wednesday when a RYDE Racine bus and a Racine Unified School District bus met at an intersection. Sergeant Kristi Wilcox, the public information officer for the Racine Police Department, provided details about the accident during a press conference with various media outlets including the Wisconsin State Journal.

In the video footage, a yellow school bus can be seen driving straight through the intersection while a white city bus approaches from another direction. The white Racine bus continues its path and collides with the side of the school bus, causing it to roll onto its side. Both buses come to a stop after impact.

Fortunately, there were no children on board the school bus at that time as they had been dropped off prior to the accident. Only two individuals were present on the school bus: the driver and their assistant. Meanwhile, approximately seven to eight people were aboard the city bus.

While most of those involved sustained minor injuries, one person is believed to have received treatment from Flight for Life which was called to assist at the scene. Sergeant Wilcox stated that "the most serious injuries were...to drivers." She emphasized that their well-being is currently their primary concern.

All injured parties received medical attention either on-site or upon transportation to nearby hospitals. During her briefing with reporters, Sergeant Wilcox mentioned that some residents had previously complained about potential obstruction caused by a tree near that particular intersection; however, investigations into all factors contributing to this incident are still ongoing.
