City of Mesa Truck Crashes into Wall and Light Pole, Sparks Fire

A City of Mesa truck crashed into a wall and light pole, causing power lines to fall and igniting a small fire on Wednesday morning. The incident took place near the intersection of Alma School and Guadalupe Roads in Mesa, Arizona.
Emergency services including the Mesa police and firefighters swiftly responded to reports of the collision at approximately 9 a.m. While the initial accident occurred at the intersection mentioned above, the impact was so forceful that it propelled the city truck into a residential block wall.
The city truck was transporting a lawnmower on a flatbed trailer when it came to rest both on top of and beneath live power lines. Additionally, due to its upside-down position atop the truck, the lawnmower caused a minor vehicle leak as well as gasoline leakage.
Rescue teams managed to extract the driver from inside the truck who was then rushed to hospital in serious condition for medical treatment. As authorities work diligently to determine what led up to this unfortunate crash, roads in close proximity have been temporarily closed off.
