Both Manning and the driver of the vehicle she was in were taken to the hospital and have been discharged.

A congresswoman from North Carolina, Representative Kathy Manning, was involved in a car crash on Thursday. The accident resulted in the cancellation of Manning's scheduled appearance at a gun violence prevention roundtable in High Point.

According to a spokesperson for Rep. Manning, she and a member of her staff were traveling to a district event when the accident occurred in Greensboro, North Carolina. Fortunately, both individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. They have since been discharged and are currently recovering at home.

In an official statement released by her office, Rep. Manning expressed gratitude towards the first responders and Cone Health team for their timely response and assistance during this incident.

The crash took place around 10:15 a.m., with troopers arriving at the scene located on US 29 at River Road in Guilford County. Investigators determined that one vehicle was heading north on US 29 while Rep. Manning was a passenger in another vehicle traveling south on the same road. Meanwhile, a third vehicle had come to a stop at a red light on River Road near the intersection with US 29.

According to troopers' findings, the driver of the first vehicle failed to yield right-of-way while attempting to make a left turn onto River Road. As a result, they collided with Rep. Manning's vehicle before continuing onward and striking the third vehicle involved in this incident.

Following investigation into the matter, authorities charged the driver of the first vehicle—a 34-year-old man from Graham—with failure to yield right-of-way.

While this unfortunate car crash disrupted Rep. Kathy Manning's schedule temporarily, she is now focused on recuperating alongside her staffer who also suffered injuries as part of this incident.
