Two Corsicana ISD students killed in car crash

Two students and one adult were killed, and one student survived with multiple broken bones.
Two students from Corsicana Independent School District in Texas have died after the car they were travelling in crashed. The two teenagers, Cory Campbell and Madison Acker, were not wearing their seatbelts when the Ford Mustang went airborne and crashed in Navarro County. Another teenager who was wearing a seatbelt is recovering from injuries sustained during the accident. The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Jeremy Price, who was not related to any of the passengers, also died as he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of impact.
The crash occurred on Thursday evening at around 8:40 pm when a Ford Mustang heading north on FM 709 near Retreat lost control and veered off into a ditch before striking a culvert. The car then flew into the air where it rolled multiple times before slamming into a power pole.
According to reports by Texas DPS investigators who surveyed the crash site on Friday morning, speed played a role in causing this horrific accident that claimed three lives. Troopers say that part of an ongoing investigation will include conducting toxicology tests on Mr Price's body.
Teresa Dickerson witnessed this tragic event unfold outside her home; she took photographs of what remained of the Mustang after it had crashed into her front yard. "Car wrecks are bad," she said, "but you just don’t see bodies in your front yard." She urged drivers to slow down along this stretch of road saying that "speed is a horrible issue" there.
The only survivor from this terrible accident is Cory Campbell’s half-brother; he suffered multiple broken bones and is currently receiving treatment at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
