Schiano was charged with three felonies: second-degree manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

A young woman was killed in Upstate New York after being struck by a suspected drunken driver, who happened to be her coworker. Madison Faltisco, 22, had been out drinking with Joshua Schiano on Thursday night and refused to get into his car when he offered her a ride home. According to Onondaga County Sheriff’s spokesperson Thomas Newton, Faltisco started walking down Oswego Street but only made it past an intersection before Schiano hit her with his car and kept driving.

Schiano then got into another crash less than a mile down the road where he struck a store sign and items outside of Salvation Army thrift store. His car caught fire and someone pulled him out of the vehicle before police arrived. The complaint filed against him states that he was intoxicated at the time but does not give details about his blood alcohol test results.

Detectives interviewed Faltisco's friends who confirmed that she had earlier refused a ride from Schiano. Her body was discovered by a passerby around 5 am the following day more than six hours after she was struck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office has charged Schiano with three felonies: second-degree manslaughter which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison; vehicular manslaughter which is punishable by up to seven years; and leaving the scene of a fatal accident which is also punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Faltisco's family has set up a GoFundMe page for burial costs as they prepare "to bury their beautiful daughter and sister." Meanwhile, Schiano pleaded not guilty during arraignment on Friday night while bail has been set at $500,000 bond or $250,000 cash according to Newton.
