Driver and passenger expected to recover from injuries
A crash in Green Bay, Wisconsin resulted in a partial building collapse on Main Street near downtown Green Bay. According to the Green Bay police, the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 pm on Sunday night when a minivan collided with Main Street Commons. The impact caused the facade of the building to collapse and partially damaged the roof, leaving beams hanging inside.
A photograph taken prior to the accident shows a minivan smashed against the curb amidst falling bricks, with its airbags deployed. Authorities have identified the driver as a 29-year-old woman from Green Bay and her passenger as a 27-year-old man from Oneida. Fortunately, both individuals are expected to recover from their injuries.
The affected building was located in Green Bay's Olde Main Street District and housed various businesses including a salon. The Main Salon & Spa announced on Facebook that their section of the building would be demolished within the next couple of days due to extensive damage.
As a result of this incident, Main Street was closed between N. Irwin Ave. and St. George St., prompting authorities to advise motorists to seek alternative routes such as University Ave., E. Walnut St., and E. Mason St.
