Crash Involving Mail Truck in Haddam Under Investigation

Connecticut State Police are currently investigating a crash that occurred in Haddam on Thursday, involving a mail truck. The incident took place on Saybrook Road near the border between Haddam and Higganum. Upon receiving the report, the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company promptly responded to the scene.
According to witnesses, a car veered across the center line and collided with the mail truck before coming to a halt in a nearby wooded area. The driver of the car managed to free themselves from their vehicle and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical attention. At this time, there is no information available regarding the severity of their injuries.
Emergency crews evaluated the mail truck driver at the scene but they declined any further treatment or transportation. Meanwhile, authorities closed off a section of Saybrook Road while conducting an investigation into the incident. However, it has since been reopened for normal traffic flow.
The Connecticut State Police will continue their efforts to determine what factors contributed to this unfortunate accident involving a mail truck and another vehicle in Haddam.
