Crash on US 20 in Angola Causes Fuel Spill and Fire

A crash on US 20 between IN 327 and N 900 W in Steuben County, Indiana has resulted in all lanes being blocked. The incident occurred when a 2015 Western Star semi-tractor/trailer lost control while attempting to navigate a turn at high speed. The crash took place around 6:30 p.m., causing approximately 40,000 pounds of steel to be scattered across both lanes and side ditches.
The impact of the collision pierced the fuel tank of the semi, resulting in a fuel spill that subsequently caught fire. As a result, the entire semi became engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Duvall Arnold from West Palm Beach, Florida, managed to escape through the windshield with only minor injuries. Despite his injuries, Arnold declined medical treatment at the scene.
In response to this incident, authorities closed US 20 in both directions while crews from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Emergency Management Agency (EMA) worked diligently to clear away debris from the accident site.
At present, an active investigation into this crash is underway by relevant authorities.
