44-year-old Woman Dies in Deadly Crash on Interstate-580 in Oakland

One person died, fire extinguished, lanes closed
A severe traffic alert was issued on Tuesday after a fatal accident occurred on Interstate-580 near the Fruitvale Avenue exit in Oakland. Tragically, a 44-year-old woman lost her life as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol reported that two vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes of I-580, causing one of them to catch fire. Unfortunately, one person became trapped inside their vehicle. Fire crews conducted an extensive extrication process to free the individual who was then transported to a medical facility in critical condition. Regrettably, despite efforts to save her, the 44-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries.
As emergency responders worked tirelessly at the scene, the fire from the collision spread into nearby vegetation. However, firefighters managed to extinguish it around noon.
Due to this tragic incident and ongoing investigations, several lanes of I-580 remained closed for hours while emergency crews continued their work.
