The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in far-north Austin have reopened after a deadly crash shut them down for several hours early Wednesday morning. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), troopers were called to the scene near Grand Avenue Parkway at approximately 3:40 a.m.

Reports indicate that a Toyota Camry struck a man who was walking on the highway. Tragically, the pedestrian did not survive the collision. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is not expected to face charges, as confirmed by DPS.

Following an investigation into this incident, DPS has reopened all southbound lanes around 6:20 a.m., allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. However, authorities are still looking into what led up to this tragic accident.
