Fatal Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead in Sandersville, Georgia

One person dead, others with serious injuries
The Fourth of July proved to be a tragic day on roadways across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) as two fatal traffic accidents occurred. With a record number of travelers expected during the holiday, authorities are urging caution and vigilance.
In Sandersville, Georgia, the Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating a fatal vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality and several serious injuries. The incident took place at approximately 12:53 p.m. on Tuesday when troopers from Post 33 in Milledgeville responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 15 North at Plantation Drive.
According to officials, a red Dodge Challenger was traveling north in the left lane while a red Chevrolet Colorado was traveling north in the right lane along Georgia Highway 15. The driver of the Dodge Challenger failed to maintain their lane and struck the rear of the Chevrolet Colorado. As a result of this impact, the Chevrolet Colorado veered off-road before overturning multiple times.
Tragically, one passenger seated at the rear of the Chevrolet Colorado was ejected from the vehicle during this violent crash and pronounced dead while en route to hospital facilities. Authorities have reached out to Washington County Coroner's Office for further information regarding this victim's identity.
During investigations into this incident by Georgia State Patrol Troop E Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, Mayview Road and Ridge Road were temporarily blocked off but have since been cleared as of 6:12 am.
Meanwhile, an investigation into a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Farrells Road at Zig Zag Landing near Bamberg at around 6:20 am on Tuesday morning, is underway.
