The Richmond Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Thursday morning in Richmond, Virginia. The incident took place on Arthur Ashe Boulevard, between The Diamond and the Greyhound Bus Station.

According to authorities, Arthur Ashe Boulevard was expected to be closed from Robin Hood Road to Leigh Street for an extended period of time as the Crash Team conducted their investigation. Officers were alerted to the deadly crash at 8:51 a.m. on Thursday, August 17th.

A spokesperson for the Richmond Police Department stated that a flatbed truck was making a left turn onto Arthur Ashe Boulevard when a motorcyclist traveling southbound collided with it. Tragically, the impact resulted in the death of the motorcyclist at the scene.

Fortunately, the driver of the flatbed truck remained present and cooperated fully with law enforcement officials. Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed may have played a role in causing this tragic accident.
