Cause of the crash is unknown, but locals say cars racing is common on the road.

A deadly car crash occurred in Highland Park, New Jersey on Tuesday evening. The accident involved at least three cars and happened around 6 p.m. near North 10th Avenue and Raritan Avenue during the rush hour. The impact of the collision was so strong that one of the vehicles was pushed up to a business along the road.

Although officials have not released information about how many people were killed, bodies lying near one of the cars were covered by authorities. Witnesses reported seeing two of the cars on fire and hearing people trapped inside them.

According to neighbors, an elderly couple visiting their grandchildren were inside a vehicle twisted in wreckage but did not survive.

The total number of victims is still unclear, but Dana Cappa saw a survivor pleading with another victim to hang on after witnessing what had happened. Officials have yet to determine what caused this tragic incident.

Locals say they see cars racing each other all too often down this road connecting Edison to Highland Park; something like this was bound to happen eventually.
