Denver Police Officer Struck by Fire Truck During Nuggets Championship Parade

Dodge underwent surgery at Denver Health Medical Center for injuries to his left leg.
A Denver police officer was seriously injured after being struck by a fire truck during the Nuggets' NBA championship parade on Thursday. Sgt. Justin Dodge suffered injuries to his lower left leg and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Witnesses at the scene reported that Dodge was hit as the truck turned onto Cherokee Street from 13th, with video footage showing officers rushing to his aid immediately after the crash.
The officer was struck and got stuck under the front right tire and was trapped.
Dodge is a veteran police officer assigned to the SWAT team who has been with the Denver Police Department since 1997. The department tweeted that he is currently in serious but stable condition following surgery for his injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, although witnesses suggested that Dodge's leg may have been run over as the truck turned at the intersection - which marked the end of the parade route.
