Detached Trailer Causes Crash with Serious Injuries in Wilson, Kansas

A serious crash occurred in Wilson County, Kansas, resulting in severe injuries for the driver of a semi-truck. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log, emergency crews were called to the scene at around 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27th.

The incident took place at the intersection of Highway 400 and Inman Rd. Reports indicated that it was a two-vehicle collision involving a detached trailer. Nancy R. Luina, a 70-year-old resident of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, was driving her 2017 Ram 3500 westbound on the highway when her trailer became disconnected from her pickup truck.

At the same time, Daniel L. Jessen from Joplin, Missouri was operating his eastbound 1990 Peterbilt semi-truck along the same stretch of road. Unfortunately, Luina's detached trailer crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with Jessen's vehicle.

As a result of the impact, Jessen's semi-truck veered off into the westbound ditch before coming to rest there. Although Luina managed to escape without any injuries reported by officials at the scene; however,Jessen sustained significant injuries and had to be transported to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

The exact nature and severity of Jessen's injuries have not been disclosed as yet but are believed to be serious based on initial assessments made by medical personnel present during his transportation.

Authorities are currently investigating what caused Luina's trailer to detach from her pickup truck leading up to this unfortunate accident.
