A man from Dorchester lost his life in a tragic accident after being hit by a train on a railroad bridge in Wareham, Massachusetts. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. According to District Attorney Tim Cruz, the victim was fishing with friends on the railroad bridge just before the crash happened.

At around 2:19 p.m., a Mass Coastal trash train came over the bridge and collided with Christopher Cater, pushing him into the water below. Witnesses at the scene reportedly jumped into action to try and save him, including a train conductor who also went into the water. Despite their efforts, Cater was eventually pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The area where this tragedy took place is known for its popularity among fishermen; however, no trespassing signs are posted in that particular location. The investigation is ongoing to determine why Cater and his group were on the bridge when they were struck by the train.

Both conductor and engineer remained present throughout investigations cooperating fully with authorities.
