Two fatalities

Florida Highway Patrol has reported a double-fatal car crash that occurred on CR 386 in Gulf County late Saturday evening. The accident claimed the lives of two young males, aged 16 and 18 years old. According to FHP, the older male from Port St. Joe was driving while the younger male from Wewahitchka was his passenger.

The sedan they were travelling in was heading southbound on CR 386 when it went off the road onto the west shoulder of CR 386 before hitting a culvert which caused it to become airborne. The vehicle then stopped facing northbound in the west ditch.

Their families have been notified about this tragic incident.

Port St. Joe Junior Senior High School also released a statement expressing condolences for TJ Jenkins and Andrew Sheppard, who were both student-athletes at their school: “The faculty and staff of Port St. Joe High School wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to the families...This is a tragic loss for the Port St. Joe community and our Tigershark family."

The school opened its doors at noon today as a place for students to gather together, remember these young men, and receive support from coaches, counselors, and staff members during this difficult time.
