Driver Arrested in Connection to Deadly Car Wreck in Highland Park That Killed Peter Palmer and Carol Paul

Two people died and the driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.
Abeer Viriani, a driver from Iselin, New Jersey has been arrested and charged with two counts each of aggravated manslaughter and second-degree vehicular homicide in connection to a deadly car wreck that occurred on Tuesday evening. The crash took place around 6 p.m. in Highland Park, New Jersey involving three vehicles near North 10th Avenue and Raritan Avenue during rush hour traffic.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office identified the victims as Peter Palmer, 75, and Carol Paul, 77 who were visiting their grandchildren from Easton Maryland at the time of the accident.
Viriani struck a Subaru carrying Palmer and Paul while driving his own vehicle - a Hyundai Elantra. He suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive after being taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
Officials have not given any possible cause for the crash yet; however locals say they see cars racing down this road all too often. They believe it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
Viriani is currently being held pending pre-trial detention while attorney information for him remains unknown.
