Driver Cited After Crashing into State Police Vehicle

A driver in New Britain, Connecticut was cited after crashing into a state police vehicle on Tuesday night. The incident occurred as the trooper was investigating an unrelated crash on Route 72 near Exit 1b around 6 p.m., according to state police.
The trooper's 2016 Ford Taurus was positioned in the left lane with its emergency lights activated when the driver of a 2013 Subaru Impreza collided with the right rear side of the patrol car. State police have released body camera footage capturing the moment of impact.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the time of the accident. However, both vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to damage sustained during the collision.
Following their investigation, state police determined that it was indeed the driver of the Subaru Impreza who caused the crash. As a result, she has been cited for speeding and failure to drive in her designated lane.
This incident serves as a reminder for all drivers to remain vigilant and attentive while on roadways, especially when approaching emergency vehicles or areas where accidents are being investigated.
