SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Accident.NEWS) - A driver is in critical condition in the hospital after a single-car crash on Saturday morning.
According to the Springfield Police Department, the accident occurred at around 7 a.m. when the driver was traveling south on National Avenue near Grand Street. The driver veered off the right side of the road, hit a tree, and overturned. The driver had to be extracted from the SUV by emergency responders.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities believe that alcohol may have been a factor.
"The investigation is ongoing, and we are looking into all possible causes of the accident," said a spokesperson for the Springfield Police Department.
