Driver pronounced dead, shooting victim in fair condition
A man was killed in a car crash on Friday night while he was driving another man who had been shot to the hospital. The incident occurred on the South Side of Chicago.
According to the Chicago police, at around 9:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the 4000 block of South Prairie Avenue when someone fired shots, hitting him in his hand and foot. Another 33-year-old man picked him up and they were en route to University of Chicago Medical Center when their vehicle collided with another car and then hit a pole in the 4700 block of South King Drive.
Both men were taken by fire officials to the hospital where unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead. The other passenger is said to be in fair condition as per police reports.
The identity of both individuals has not yet been released by authorities. No arrests have been made so far but area detectives are investigating this case further.
