Driver Goliath Cortez killed in head-on collision in Phoenix

Driver died, pickup truck driver and passenger sustained minor injuries
Early Monday morning, a driver was killed after crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with a pickup truck near 16th and Elwood streets in Phoenix. According to the police report, Goliath Cortez, 34 years old, was driving south on 16th Street when he crossed into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
Cortez sustained serious injuries from the crash and was rushed to the hospital but later died. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
The cause of Cortez's decision to drive into oncoming traffic is still under investigation by authorities. Police are working diligently to determine what led up to this fatal accident.
