Driver of Stalled Vehicle Struck and Killed on I-88 in DeKalb County

The driver of the stalled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Late Sunday night, tragedy struck on I-88 in DeKalb County as the driver of a stalled vehicle was fatally struck, according to Illinois State Police. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-88 near Peace Road.
Authorities reported that the driver had exited their vehicle after it became disabled. Unfortunately, both the stranded motorist and their vehicle were hit by a tractor semi-trailer.
Tragically, the driver of the stalled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
In response to this devastating accident, police promptly closed down lanes on I-88 to conduct a thorough investigation into what transpired. However, all lanes were reopened for regular traffic flow by approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.
