A tragic accident occurred in Roane County, Tennessee on Friday, resulting in the death of a tractor-trailer driver. According to the preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the driver failed to maintain their lane while traveling on I-40 East and veered off the road.
In an attempt to reenter the road, the tractor-trailer crossed over both lanes and collided with a rock embankment. Unfortunately, a 2014 Lexus that was also traveling on the highway tried to avoid hitting the semi but was unable to do so. The car ultimately crashed into it before coming to a stop against the same rock embankment.
Tragically, as stated in THP's report, "the driver of the tractor-trailer died from his injuries." However, there is some relief amidst this devastating incident as "the driver of the Lexus was not injured."
The Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted an investigation into this fatal crash. While further details are yet to be released regarding potential causes or contributing factors leading up to this accident, authorities will likely continue their efforts in order to provide clarity for all parties involved.
