Drunk Driver Crashes into Storefront in Humboldt Park

Chicago police reported that a drunk driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a storefront in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Sunday evening. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.
The crash occurred at 3259 W. North Ave., at Spaulding Avenue, causing extensive damage to the building. The Fire Department confirmed that there was significant structural damage to the storefront housing the North Tobacco & Convenience store.
According to authorities, the 45-year-old driver first hit a light pole and then collided with a parked car before crashing into the storefront. Police have not released any further details about the driver or if charges will be filed.
The Department of Buildings is currently assessing the extent of damage caused by this accident. It is unclear when repairs will begin or how long it will take for business operations to resume at North Tobacco & Convenience store.
