Road closed, driver injured
State Route 122, also known as Spring Water Road, was closed on Tuesday due to a crash involving a dump truck. The incident occurred near the intersection of State Route 122 and Verrill Road.
According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the dump truck apparently overcorrected to avoid pedestrians who were working on paving the roadway. As a result, the truck rolled over onto its side.
Emergency officials had to extricate the driver from the vehicle before he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time. However, authorities have chosen not to release his identity publicly.
The closure of State Route 122 remained in effect until crews finished cleaning up spilled oil from the accident site.
