Dump Truck Crash in Fredonia Sends Belgium Man to Hospital

SUV driver hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries
The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office reported a serious crash involving a dump truck and an SUV in Fredonia, Wisconsin on Tuesday, June 27. The incident occurred at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Fredonia Avenue around 4:20 p.m.
According to authorities, the dump truck was traveling north on STH 57 when it ran a red light and collided with the westbound SUV. The impact caused the SUV to veer off the road and into a field east of the highway.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the driver of the SUV, identified as a 38-year-old man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life-threatening. On the other hand, no injuries were reported for the dump truck driver who is also from Belgium and is only 20 years old.
The dump truck driver has been cited for multiple traffic violations related to this incident. Meanwhile, law enforcement had to block off the intersection for over an hour while they investigated and cleared up debris from the crash site.
It serves as another reminder for drivers to exercise caution on roads and adhere to traffic signals in order to prevent accidents like these from occurring.
