Dump truck driver injured in Chesterfield County crash

Driver with life-threatening injuries
The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a crash involving a dump truck that left the driver with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 26, at around 11:45 a.m. in the 20000 block of Matoaca Road.
According to the police report, the dump truck was traveling north on Matoaca Road when it ran off the left side of the road, overturned, and crashed into a tree. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver with life-threatening injuries. It took around 45 minutes to extricate the driver from the truck before he was MedFlight evacuated to a nearby hospital.
The police department is continuing to investigate the incident. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as they become available.
