Elderly Woman Elvira Castro Dragged Underneath Truck at Local Flea Market

Victim still fighting for her life
An elderly woman was left fighting for her life after being dragged underneath a truck during a shopping trip on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at a local flea market in Laredo, Texas.
Elvira Castro, 78, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the accident. According to reports, the driver of the truck involved in the incident stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. She later provided LPD with a voluntary blood sample.
Investigator Joe Baeza stated that the truck struck her and ran her over. People tried to wave at her, were yelling at her to stop. He added that she was stuck for quite a long time underneath the vehicle.
Fortunately, there was a tow truck nearby which quickly arrived on scene and lifted up the pickup truck off of Castro.
Police have identified Alicia Garcia as the driver of the vehicle involved in this tragic event. Reports indicate that she had been backing up into a parking spot when she failed to see Castro until it was too late.
Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into this ongoing case.
