Fatal Accident on Highway D in Cleveland, Missouri

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening, September 23, 2023, on southbound Highway D just south of 241st Street. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Courtnard I. Wilson, a 56-year-old man from Cleveland, Missouri, lost control of his vehicle and was involved in a fatal accident.
Wilson was driving a 2018 Kia Stinger when he veered off the roadway and collided with both a fence and a tree. Unfortunately, he did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Belton paramedic William P. Dowty at 8:31 p.m.
One crucial detail that emerged from the investigation is that Wilson was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. This serves as an important reminder for all drivers to prioritize their safety by buckling up before hitting the road.
The impact caused significant damage to Wilson's vehicle which had to be towed away from the scene by All City Tow. The authorities have identified Trooper R J Hastings as leading the investigation into this tragic incident. He received assistance from Corporal K M Hoover, Trooper C J Drum, and members of Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
This unfortunate event marks yet another fatality on our roads this year for Troop A. It is reported that this is now their 54th fatal crash resulting in their 64th fatality in total for this year alone.
