Fatal Accident Involving Five Vehicles on I-465 Northbound in Indianapolis Leaves One Dead

The driver of the vehicle that struck the attenuator was pronounced deceased at the scene. The right three lanes remain closed while the left lane is open.
A person has died following a serious accident on I-465 northbound on Saturday evening, according to the Indiana State Police (ISP). The accident involved a total of five vehicles and resulted in the closure of the three right lanes on I-465 northbound, north of E. 56th St.
A driver and passenger in another car were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation into the crash revealed that the driver of a passenger car was traveling northbound on I-465 when they attempted to change lanes while passing through a construction zone where four northbound lanes split.
There are three lanes that are divided from one other lane in that area. ISP said the driver struck the divider when attempting to change lanes, and subsequently collided with four other vehicles. The driver that struck the divider, was pronounced dead at the scene.
