Fatal Accident in Rock Valley, Iowa: Halee Bliek Killed

A tragic accident occurred in Rock Valley, Iowa early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a local woman. According to authorities, high speed and alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
The Sioux County Communications received an emergency call shortly after midnight reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 300th Street and Filmore Avenue, northeast of Rock Valley.
The driver has been identified as Kaleb DeBey, a 21-year-old resident of Sioux City. DeBey was operating a 2020 Audi A4 heading westbound on 300th Street when he failed to negotiate a curve on Filmore Avenue. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle and veered into the west ditch before colliding with a cement culvert.
Tragically, Halee Bliek from Rock Valley was ejected from the car during impact and became trapped underneath it. Both DeBey and Bliek were promptly transported by Rock Valley EMS to Hegg Medical Center for medical attention.
While DeBey received treatment for his injuries sustained in the crash, Bliek's injuries proved fatal as she succumbed to them at Hegg Medical Center.
Law enforcement agencies including the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, and Rock Valley Police Department are currently conducting an investigation into this devastating incident. The case remains open as they work diligently to determine all contributing factors that led up to this tragedy.
Assistance during this joint investigation was provided by both the Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance services.
This unfortunate event serves as another reminder about road safety measures such as adhering to speed limits and refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol or any impairing substances.
