Nicolas Hinojosa Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident in Somerville

One dead, two injured
The Somerville Police Department has released details of a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday evening, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The incident took place in the 16900 block of State Highway 36 in Somerville, Texas.
According to the police statement, a white 2019 GMC pickup truck driven by Nicolas Hinojosa was heading northbound on SH 36 when it was hit by a gray 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by Jose Vega Daniel Rodriguez who was traveling southbound. Rodriguez crossed the turn lane and collided head-on with Hinojosa’s vehicle.
Hinojosa was pronounced dead at the scene while his passenger, Barry Tisdale, aged 62 years old from Waller, was transported to St. Joseph hospital in College Station for treatment. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident, Rodriguez aged 31 years old from Taft Texas also sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan where he remains stable.
Police say that although investigations into this fatal accident are ongoing; preliminary findings suggest alcohol may have been a contributing factor leading up to this tragic event.
Emergency services were called upon immediately after the crash which saw all occupants trapped inside their vehicles requiring assistance from firefighters using "the jaws of life" before being removed from their respective vehicles safely.
The northbound lanes of SH-36 had to be closed for several hours as traffic shared southbound lanes until normalcy resumed later that night.
