Fatal Accident in Vernon Leaves Dakota Little Dead

One driver dead, others transported to hospital
An early-morning accident in the Town of Vernon resulted in the death of one driver and the closure of a section of Route 365 on Monday, July 17. According to Oneida County Sheriffs, they received a call about a two-car motor vehicle accident at around 8:35 am at the intersection of Route 365 and 9th Street.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Dakota Little, a 27-year-old resident of Oneida, had allegedly drifted into the southbound lane while traveling northbound on Route 365. Little's car then collided with a truck driven by Robert Wilson, aged 32 and also from Oneida.
Tragically, Dakota Little was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Meanwhile, Robert Wilson and his passenger were transported to a hospital for treatment.
As a result of this incident, Route 365 in Vernon was temporarily closed between Prospect Street and East 2nd Street by the New York State Department of Transportation. However, it has since been reopened to traffic.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into this fatal accident. They were assisted at the scene by several other agencies including the Oneida Castle and Verona Fire Departments, Vineall Ambulance Services, as well as both the New York State Department of Transportation and Police.
