Two Dead, Three Injured in Cedar Rapids Car Accident

Two dead, three injured
Cedar Rapids police are investigating a fatal car accident that occurred early Sunday morning. The Joint Communication Agency Dispatch received calls just before 3 a.m. regarding the incident in the 2100 block of Williams Boulevard Southwest.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two damaged cars and five occupants. Police believe that a Dodge Caliber was traveling eastbound on Williams when it spun out of control and collided with a Toyota Rav 4 heading west.
Tragically, both vehicles' passengers suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Dodge Caliber, who was only 23 years old, died instantly upon impact. A 29-year-old passenger also passed away after being taken to hospital for treatment.
The three individuals inside the Toyota Rav 4 sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries due to the accident and were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
