Fatal Car Crash at Bus Stop in Southeast Portland

One person declared dead at the scene
A tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening in southeast Portland, resulting in the death of an individual after a car crashed through a bus stop. The Portland Police Bureau reported that they received reports of the crash at around 6:30 p.m. near Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Southeast Taylor Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a car that had rolled onto the sidewalk and plowed through the bus stop. Tragically, one person who had been waiting for the bus was declared dead on-site. The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
In response to this incident, authorities have closed off both directions of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard between Southeast Yamhill Street and Southeast Salmon Street as they conduct their investigation into what caused this devastating crash.
