Fatal Car Crash in South Charlotte Leaves One Dead

Driver pronounced dead on the scene
According to reports, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating a fatal car crash that occurred in south Charlotte on Sunday morning. The incident took place just after 2:40 a.m. when officers were called to Carmel Road for a car accident.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered that a 2011 Honda Accord had run off the road and hit both a pole and tree. Tragically, MEDIC was called but pronounced the driver dead upon arrival.
As detectives began their investigation into what caused this devastating crash, they learned that the Honda was driving southwest on Carmel Road when the driver lost control and ran off the right side of the road. It's believed that speed may have been a contributing factor in this tragic event.
At this time, officials have not released any information regarding the identity of the driver involved in this accident.
