Fatal collision reported near Hopkins

One person pronounced dead, two others injured
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has reported a fatal collision that occurred near Hopkins on Monday afternoon. The incident took place at around 3:50 p.m. on Third Street at Clarkson Road, which is located five miles east of Hopkins.
According to the authorities, a 2018 box truck was driving east on Third Street when it collided with a train traveling south. Two individuals who were in the truck during the time of the accident were taken to Prisma Health for injuries sustained from the crash.
Unfortunately, one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. No injuries have been reported among those inside of the train involved in this incident.
At present, SCHP is investigating this tragic event and no further details have been released regarding its cause or any potential charges related to it.
