Vermont state police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday night in the Northeast Kingdom. The incident took place just before 9:30 p.m. on I-91 north in Barton.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found a pickup truck with significant damage. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 39-year-old Derick Ward of Newport and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still working to determine what caused Ward to crash into the wooded median. As of now, no further details have been released regarding this tragic accident.
