According to a report from the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a fatal accident occurred in Clinton County on Wednesday evening. The crash happened at approximately 4:56 p.m. when Charles Gilkinson, 54 years old and resident of Blanchester, lost control of his vehicle while driving west on Second Creek Road.

Gilkinson's car went off the right side of the road and hit two traffic signs before striking a ditch where it overturned. He was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene by authorities who arrived shortly after.

OSP has confirmed that there were no other passengers in Gilkinson's GMC Sierra at the time of the incident. Investigations are ongoing as officials work to determine what caused him to lose control.
