Willimantic Man Killed in Brooklyn Crash Involving Dump Truck and Car

Carlos Garcia-Giron was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was identified as Ryan Reynolds, 26, of Moosup. Reynolds was transported to Backus Plainfield Emergency Care Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
A man from Willimantic lost his life in a crash involving a dump truck and a car in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, according to state police. The accident occurred around 7 p.m. and forced the closure of Route 6 in the area of Cherry Hill Road.
The victim was identified as Carlos Garcia-Giron, 40, who was driving an Acura TSX. Police reported that Garcia-Giron drifted into the opposite direction of traffic on Route 6, resulting in a collision with the dump truck, which was headed in the opposite direction. The dump truck, driven by Ryan Reynolds, 26, of Moosup, rolled onto its side after the initial collision.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they reported serious injuries. Garcia-Giron was pronounced dead at the scene, while Reynolds was transported to Backus Plainfield Emergency Care Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
As of Wednesday morning, the cause of the crash remained under investigation. State police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
