Fatal Crash Closes Portion of US 33 in Fort Wayne

Driver of the car and truck were unharmed. SUV driver pronounced dead at the scene.
The Allen County Sheriff's Department is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a driver and the closure of a section of US 33. The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. at the intersection of Cook Road and US 33 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
According to preliminary findings from the Allen County Sheriff's Department, here is what transpired: A car was traveling north on U.S. 33 when the driver of an SUV attempted to enter U.S. 33 from Cook Road. Unfortunately, the SUV drove directly into the path of the oncoming car, resulting in a collision between both vehicles.
Following the crash, both drivers exited their respective vehicles to check on each other's well-being. Tragically, while outside his SUV, the driver was struck by a tanker truck passing through the area. It remains unclear whether he had re-entered his vehicle or if he was still outside when this second collision occurred.
Regrettably, authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. Fortunately, neither the driver of the car nor that of the truck sustained any injuries during these series of events.
