A fatal accident occurred early Thursday morning, leading to the closure of the southbound 710 Freeway through South Gate. The crash involved two vehicles and resulted in one death. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified woman unconscious and not breathing. It is unclear whether she was ejected from her vehicle or got out before being struck by another car. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the initial crash was unharmed but questioned by investigators. At least two other cars were part of the investigation after becoming involved in subsequent incidents following the initial collision.

Due to this tragic event, there was an hours-long closure on the southbound side of 710 Freeway which lasted until around 5 a.m.

Further details about this incident are yet to be released as investigators continue their work determining what caused this deadly accident.
