Fatal Crash on I-79 in Morgantown: Victim Identified

One person died, another person taken to the hospital
The victim of a fatal crash on I-79 has been identified by authorities. The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident involved a motorcycle and a car.
According to officials, the driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Christina Barnes, a 38-year-old resident of Bradenville, PA. The incident occurred when Barnes was traveling northbound on I-79 near mile marker 150 and attempted to enter the emergency turnaround in the median. At that moment, she was struck by a car.
As a result of the collision, the car veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The driver became trapped inside and had to be extracted from their vehicle. They were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment but have since been released.
Additionally, debris from the crash struck another vehicle; fortunately, neither its driver nor passenger sustained any injuries.
The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating this tragic accident with assistance from other agencies such as West Virginia State Police, Westover Fire Department, West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office, and Mon EMS.
