Ryan Purkey Dies in Fatal Crash on I-40 East in Jefferson County

A fatal accident occurred on Thursday night in Jefferson County. The incident took place on I-40 East near mile marker 412 when a tractor trailer slowed down for construction zone traffic. Unfortunately, the driver of the car behind the truck did not see the traffic slowing and ran into it while attempting to avoid hitting the truck.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Ryan Purkey who died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck was unharmed during this tragic event.
