Fatal Crash on I-44 in Fidelity: Cortney Johnson from Sarcoxie Killed

Fatal crash with one fatality and one driver with serious injuries.
A tragic accident occurred on Monday evening near Fidelity, Missouri, resulting in the death of a woman from Sarcoxie. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cortney Johnson, 37 years old and a resident of Sarcoxie, was driving an SUV on I-44 when she was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer.
The incident took place as several drivers were slowing down for a construction zone. The impact caused Johnson's SUV to be pushed into another tractor-trailer, which then collided with a third tractor-trailer. Finally, the third truck struck the back of a pickup truck.
Unfortunately, Cortney Johnson did not survive the crash. However, no other individuals involved in the accident sustained any injuries.
As a result of this collision and subsequent investigation, the eastbound lanes of I-44 had to be closed for approximately three hours.
The driver responsible for causing this devastating crash is currently receiving treatment at a Joplin hospital due to serious injuries sustained during the incident.
